Voices from the Field: Zambia

“I am very inspired by the fact that the top Registered Nursing student this year was an eLearning student. This has motivated me to work harder. I always wanted to be a nurse but my mother told me to study international tourism, which I did, but I could not find a job. So now I am doing what I enjoy. I particularly like integrated reproductive health and working with pregnant women.”

“The eLearning course has given many people the opportunity to study nursing which they would otherwise not have been able to do because of time constraints. I am very grateful.” Phinias Ndumbano.

“There is a high rate of teenage pregnancies in Zambia. The result is that many children are born to mothers who cannot take care of them. I want to find a way to stop teenage pregnancies because I do not want to see children suffer. When I finish the course, I would like to go and work in Livingstone because that is where I am from. I love children. I plan to specialise in obstetric nursing so that I can help pregnant women and the children that they deliver” Kaoma Eunice.
